Focussing mostly on speed over every other trait, the PT-1 is poorly armored and shielded for a gunship, but can easily outrun most opponents. After the Battle of Naboo made clear the need for area-denial weapons, the PT-1 was armed with High Explosive missiles to quickly wipe out large groups of lightly armored craft. The Rebellion makes thankful use of these against the Empires TIE swarms. While it's not as strong on its own, combined with other rebel starfighters such as the X-wing, it's a formidable fire support unit.
